From the San Francisco Bay area just take 101 south to Salinas.  Keep going south.  30 minutes south of Salinas follow the signs and Highway 146 to Pinnacles National Monument Western Entrance.

From Southern California just head north on 101.  20 minutes north of King City follow the signs to Pinnacles National Monument Western Entrance. Take the first exit in Soledad.

From Monterey take highway 68 east to 101.  Go south on 101 ten miles.  Follow the signs to Pinnacles National Monument Western Entrance.

Once in Soledad

Take exit 302 toward Soledad and Hwy 146.

Turn Left on Front Street.

Turn Right on East Street. (Hwy 146)

Turn Right onto Metz Road.(Hwy 146)

Go 2.7 miles on Metz Road.(Hwy 146)

Turn slightly Left onto Shirtail Canyon Road (Hwy 146).

Go about 7 miles uphill.

Just before Pinnacles about a mile after the third one lane road sign you will see a large sign for Chalone Winery.  Turn left there. Go three tenths of a mile.  The first gate on the left is Pinnacles Inn.  Then you will see 2 gates. (Don’t go through the right gate even if it is open) Our gate is on the left.  lt has 8 or 9 locks on it.  One lock is red. I will email you the combination to this red lock.  Once you set the combination compress the lock in, then it will pop half way out.  Then pull hard and the lock will open. Please close the gate and relock after you go through it.  Here are 3 photos.  Both gates, our gate, our lock opened:

Chalone is another six tenths of a mile in.  Turn left into the first driveway just before the olive orchard and just as you go under a telephone line. This is the first perfectly groomed dirt road to the left.

At the house, at the top of the exterior stairs, there is a lock box with the house key.  I will email you this combo as well.  Once you put the key in the front door, turn the key to the left and simultaneously pull the door toward you.  Now you are in !

PS Do not follow signs to Pinnacles East or Hollister.  This would be a 2 hour mistake.  Pinnacles East is only 2 miles from west but the roads do not connect.  Please make sure all your travelers know this.
